Mason-Dixon Poll Shows Va. Dead Heat

Sunday, 02 November 2008 08:56 AM EST

With the presidential election just two days away, Virginia remains up for grabs, according to a new poll.

The Mason-Dixon poll shows Sen. Barack Obama holding a slim but statistically meaningless lead over Sen. John McCain, 47 percent to 44 percent. That lead is within the poll's 4-point margin of error.

Virginia remains a major battleground state because a record 9 percent of voters are still undecided.

The poll of 625 voters also found:

  • Obama leading McCain by 10 points in Northern Virginia.

  • Obama leading McCain by 10 points in Hampton Road.

  • McCain leading Obama in the rest of the state.
