Donald Trump isn’t the only Republican questioning whether President Barack Obama was really born in the United States, one of the qualifications for the presidency.
A CBS News/ New York Times poll shows that 45 percent of Republican voters believe Obama was born overseas,
The Hill reports. That compares with 33 percent who think he was born in the U.S. and 22 percent who don’t know.
Trump has raised questions about the veracity of Obama's birth certificate, released by his campaign in 2008 to show he was born in Hawaii. Some Republicans are upset with Trump for raising the issue, worrying that focus on it could come back to bite them in next year’s elections.
And this week, Republican Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer vetoed legislation that would have forced presidential candidates to prove their citizenship to get on that state's ballot.
