Conservative Groups: Dump Obama's Stimulus

Many Republicans opposed the $819 billion fiscal stimulus package implemented by Democrats in 2009. And an amalgam of conservative groups is doing something about it, pressing Congress to defund wasteful stimulus projects that haven’t started yet, The Hill reports.

Let Freedom Ring is the lead group in the coalition that has begun a “Defund the Stimulus” campaign. The effort includes a web site with an online petition. The coalition urges support for defunding legislation to be offered Thursday by Rep. Sean Duffy, R-Wis.

The coalition is working in cooperation with Duffy and the Republican Study Committee (RSC), Let Freedom Ring President Colin Hanna tells The Hill. The RSC estimates the remaining stimulus money at tens of billions of dollars.
