Rep. King Praises Obama’s Shift on Terrorism

By    |   Thursday, 10 February 2011 07:42 PM EST

President Barack Obama has moved to the center on terrorism, just as he has on many other issues. And New York Republican Rep. Pete steve, king, obama, terrorismKing, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, appreciates the change, The Hill reports.

“When the Obama people came in two years ago, they really thought once George Bush and Dick Cheney were gone, the terrorism was going to go away, that it was not the issue most of us thought it was” King told Fox Business Network Thursday. "I think there has been a real change in awareness by this administration.”

Obama’s decision to back off closing the Guantanamo Bay detention center is a prime example, he says. “They realize how serious this issue is. They realize this is a worldwide threat, and it’s on their watch. Reality has set in that this is a dangerous world.”
