Rove: War on Terror Far From Over

The words of President George W. Bush bookend those of President Barack Obama in the long fight to find Osama bin Laden, Karl Rove wrote on FoxNews.com in an article praising the efforts to kill the most wanted terrorist in the world.

In the days after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Bush said “whether we bring our enemies to justice or bring justice to our enemies, justice will be done.” On Sunday, Obama proclaimed, “Justice has been done.” Bin Laden is dead.

The Republican strategist and close adviser to Bush praised Obama but said the job is not done.

“President Obama faces new challenges,” Rove wrote in the column Monday. “Bin Laden’s death may lead more Americans to conclude the War on Terror is done, much as the death of Hitler marked the collapse of the Third Reich.

“But bin Laden knew he might be killed and prepared Al Qaeda for that possibility by installing leadership that could act in the event of his death and decentralizing the organization so it could not be decapitated easily.

“President Obama needs to go to the American people in the weeks ahead to explain plainly and forcefully why more days of danger and sacrifice lie ahead in Afghanistan and across the globe.”
