Pawlenty: Holder Should Resign Over Ghailani

Attorney General Eric Holder didn’t make too many allies over his stance that suspected terrorists should be tried in civilian courts, especially after Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani was declared not guilty of all but one charge in a civilian court decision this week. Indeed, Republican Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty said on the Hugh Hewitt radio show that Holder should resign over the policy, Poltico reports.

“You know, I think Eric Holder and the Justice Department made a fundamental mistake, and they put the country, almost put the country at risk, and may still do it if they continue down this path,” says Pawlenty, a potential presidential candidate. “And I don’t think you can just stay in that position and have those kinds of outcomes.”
