Demands Grow to Cancel Stone’s Showtime Series

Two prominent Jewish leaders in the entertainment industry have called for the cancellation of Oliver Stone’s upcoming TV series after the director railed against Jews in a recent interview.

Billionaire media mogul Haim Saban and Ari Emanuel, CEO of the William Morris Endeavor Entertainment talent agency, appealed to CBS boss Leslie Moonves to yank Stone’s 10-part documentary, “A Secret History of America,” from CBS’s sister channel Showtime.

Saban also lobbied Bryan Lourd, co-chief of the Creative Artists Agency, to drop Stone as a client, just as Emanuel did with Mel Gibson earlier this month following release of obscenity-laced audiotapes of his tirade against his wife, Movie Line reported.

In his interview with The London Times, Stone declared that America’s focus on the Holocaust is due to “Jewish domination of the media” and said Jews are “the most powerful lobby in Washington.”

Stone also defended Hitler and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
His remarks drew swift condemnation from Jews in the United States and Israel.

Stone has issued an apology, saying that “Jews obviously do not control the media or any other industry.”

But Saban called the apology “transparently fake” and said in an interview: “He has been consistent in his anti-American and anti-Semitic remarks. I respect his First Amendment rights. I hope he respects mine.”
