Obama May Reconcile with House Republicans

President Barack Obama will likely move to repair relations with House Republicans if they wrest control of Congress in next month’s elections, as many experts expect. At that point, he’d need the GOP to get things done, and, of course, Republicans would need him too, Roll Call reports.

obama, work, house, republicansIn particular, Republicans can work with Obama on immigration, says Rep. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz. He introduced an immigration reform bill with Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) in 2007 that received widespread bipartisan support.

And Obama is eager for progress on immigration too. “I think it’s easier for Republicans to do it,” Flake said. “I mean, we’ve seen that the Democrats didn’t even come close. There wasn’t even a real effort. Republicans have that, at least.”
