WASHINGTON – The powerful chairman of the House committee that oversees war spending called on Tuesday for the removal of the commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, over remarks critical of the Obama administration.
"If he (General Stanley McChrystal) actually said half of what is being reported, he shouldn't be in the position he is in," House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey, a Democrat, said in a statement, becoming the highest profile lawmaker thus far to call publicly for McChrystal to be removed.
