Nuke Threat May Spur Mass Israeli Emigration

Nearly 2 million Israelis would consider emigrating if Iran obtains a nuclear bomb, according to a new poll.

The poll, by the Centre for Iranian Studies at Tel Aviv University, found that 1.75 million of the country's 7 million citizens are so fearful of a nuclear Iran that they might flee, according to Britain's Independent newspaper.

Other results of the poll:

  • More than 40 percent of Israelis support a pre-emptive attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.

  • 85 percent of all respondents are worried that Iran will make a nuclear device, including 83 percent of women and 78 percent of men.

  • 49 percent support diplomatic negotiantions to resolve the issue.
