Death Toll Rises to 150; 19 Killed Saturday

Sunday, 21 June 2009 12:05 AM EDT

Eyewitnesses in Tehran say at least 19 people were killed Saturday by gunfire in violent clashes with Iranian police, according to CNN.

The cable news outlet also said the overall death toll now stands at 150, but that report was unconfirmed.

Iran has been rocked by protests and violence for more than a week, since the results of the presidential election have been in dispute.

Current President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been declared the official winner of the June 12 elections, but opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi says the vote should be annulled and that he is prepared for "martyrdom."
