Florida Republican Gov. Rick Scott has proven to be a vigilant cost cutter during his first weeks in office. So it is somewhat surprising to learn that he is voicing conditional support for collective bargaining by public unions, as
Politico reports.
“My belief is as long as people know what they’re doing, collective bargaining is fine,” Scott said Tuesday on WFLA Radio. That is, “as long as people know what they are voting for.”
To be sure, Scott also said he’s concerned about fairness relating to public employee unions. “When I look at state workers, I have to say I’m going to be fair to taxpayers. … Let’s pick pay as an example. You know, I’ve never been anywhere where people think they’re paid perfectly fairly.”
