Allen Rips Webb With Eye on 2012

Monday, 20 December 2010 01:09 PM EST

Former Virginia Republican Sen. George Allen continues to give signals that he will enter the 2012 race for the seat of Virginia Democratic Sen. Jim Webb, who defeated him in 2006. Allen hammered Webb for the second time in less than a month over the weekend, The Hill reports.

george, allen, jim, webbAllen shows his strong opposition to the DREAM Act in the statement, hitting Webb and Senate Democratic leaders for attempting to "encourage more illegal behavior" on the immigration front.

"The so-called 'DREAM Act' being pushed by Washington liberals like Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Leader Harry Reid, and Senators Durbin and Kerry is a flawed piece of legislation that rewards illegal behavior with benefits paid for by taxpayers," Allen says. "It is unfortunate that Senator Jim Webb chose to put the political interests of his liberal colleagues before the valid concerns of Virginians."

Webb still hasn’t officially decided whether to run again, telling The Washington Post he’ll decide early next year.
