Freshman Democrats in Congress want to keep their jobs, but they realize that will be easier to do if voters don’t really know what their jobs are in the first place. The freshman Democrats are portraying

themselves as outsiders unconnected to the
ir institution, The Hill reports.
And the strategy has worked Rep. Kathy Dahlkemper, D-Pa., who has successfully portrayed herself as the underdog against Republican challenger Mike Kelly.
Dahlkemper blasted Congress in one of her first TV ads, neglecting to mention that she’s a member. “Congress, I call it like I see it because that’s how I was raised,” she says in the ad.
The commercial performed especially well in a survey of political insiders Wilson Research Strategies conducted for The Hill.
