MSNBC correspondent Norah O'Donnell reported at 7:46 p.m. Tuesday that Democrats are bracing for "a devastating defeat" in Massachusetts.
New reports state that turnout has not been good for Democrat Martha Coakley in key areas of the state, in her race against Democrat Scott Brown. There are reports of many Brown supporters waving signs for their candidate in the normal Democratic stronghold of south Boston.
Even before the polls closed, Democratic Party officials in Massachusetts issued a scathing report blaming Coakley for running an incompetent campaign.
Reporting from Coakley campaign headquarters, O'Donnell had this reaction: "Pretty stunning. I can't remember a campaign I've covered… where they've done something like that, spoken about a candidate like that."
