Climate Bill on the Ropes

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has turned noncommittal about when a sweeping energy and climate bill will be introduced, according to a Politico.com report.

“We’re going to make a decision in the near future,” Reid said, referring to a Democratic caucus on the volatile issue Thursday. “We’re really not at a point where I can determine what I think is the best for the caucus and the country at this stage.”

In the legislative mix are advocates for legislation to cap greenhouse gases emitted by power plants. They want more time as they try to bargain with the industry.

Meanwhile, swing-vote Democrats and Republicans are not committing one way or the other as midterm elections loom.
