Christie: GOP Presidential Candidates Not Addressing Tough Issues

By    |   Friday, 23 September 2011 11:26 AM EDT

Republican presidential candidates aren’t dealing with the hard truths of the nation’s economic morass, says New Jersey GOP Gov. Chris Christie. And that’s why conservatives keep urging him to run for president, Christie said in an appearance at Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J. Thursday, The Hill reports.

Americans realize sacrifice will be required and are fed up with hearing both parties dance around the truth, Christie said.

"I think what the country is thirsting for, more than anything else right now, is someone of stature and credibility to tell them that and say, 'Here's where I want us to go to deal with this crisis,'" he said. "The fact that nobody yet who's running for president has done that effectively is why you continue to hear people ask Daniels if he'll reconsider and ask me if I'll reconsider."

Christie appeared with Republican Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, who like the New Jersey governor says he won’t run for president this time.
