MSNBC’s Chris Matthews took his attacks against former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to a new plateau Tuesday by asking whether Sarah Palin is like Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, who has been killing his own people in the past few days.

In a discussion about a tell-all book written by former Palin aide Frank Bailey and her knowledge of world events, Matthews asked “Hardball” panelists the following:
“Is she like Moammar Gadhafi, she just doesn’t know the world around her?”
Replied Politics Daily and Mother Jones writer David Corn: “That’s some comparison.”
“If she shows with an umbrella, and start saying: I’m here, I’m not there,” Matthews said, in reference to a Monday video showing the Libyan leader talking from his car, with an umbrella in hand. “Anyway . . . I thought — well, she’s not — I don’t think she’s as bad as him.
“I’m not going to go that far.”
