President Barack Obama isn’t dealing well with the global crises confronting him now, says
James Carafano, assistant director of The Heritage Foundation’s Institute for International Studies.

“President Obama has clearly demonstrated that he is not a ‘Houston we have problem,’ take-charge kind of guy,” he writes on
Politico.“The Obama Doctrine is ill-suited to dealing with the world as it is. Mostly it assumes big problems can be solved with big words and the rest of the globe can be put on the back burner.”
In addition, Carafano argues, “The president's crisis management style is slow and deliberate and gives too much weight to the optics of politics rather than dealing with the substance of the issue.”
Obama errs by insisting we must achieve a consensus at the United Nations before acting, Carafano says. “He finds practically exercising American leadership difficult.”
