Axelrod: Obama's Jobs Plan Will Have New Ideas

By    |   Sunday, 21 August 2011 10:50 AM EDT

President Barack Obama’s yet-to-be-revealed jobs plan contains a mixture of new ideas, ideas that have been discussed before, and an “absolutely critical” payroll tax cut, David Axelrod said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“There’s nothing in there that reasonable people shouldn’t be able to agree on,” Axelrod said, according to Politico.

Obama, who’s vacationing with his family in Martha’s Vineyard, is set to unveil the jobs plan after Labor Day.

“In the short term, we need to do some things to accelerate the economy,” Axelrod said. “In the long run, we also ought to agree that we need to deal with our debt issue.”
