Testing After Removing Amalgam Fillings

Russell Blaylock, M.D. By Monday, 09 December 2013 10:59 PM EST Current | Bio | Archive

Question: I am having my mercury amalgam fillings removed. After I have the fillings removed and restorations made, would you recommend that I have a chelation test to determine the level of heavy metals I have in my body?

Dr. Blaylock's Answer:

It is always a good idea to test for such levels, as removal can often increase the mercury burden within tissues. Magnesium can bind some mercury and R-lipoic acid in a dose of 600 mg three times a day taken 20 minutes before a meal also removes and neutralizes much of the mercury toxicity.

I recommend getting a chelation-based mercury level test at least after the first two weeks. Sweating is another easy and safe way to remove mercury.
