What is Oral Thrush?

Monday, 10 January 2011 04:05 PM EST

Question: What can be done for oral thrush?

Dr. Blaylock's Answer:

Thrush is a condition caused by the fungus Candida albicans. It occurs because the immune system — especially cellular immunity — is depressed. Therefore, one would expect the infection to remain as long as immunity is suppressed.

One of the best ways to improve cellular immunity is by using a safe extract called beta-1,3/1,6-glucan. (Get it at Vita Cost). The dose is 250 mg a day, taken on an empty stomach with water only. Do not eat for 45 minutes after taking it.

Another immune stimulator is arabinogalactan, made from the bark of the larch tree. Arabinogalactan also helps grow beneficial bacteria in the gut.

The carotenoid astaxanthin, available as a supplement, has also been shown to restore immunity in the elderly (also at Vita Cost). It is also important to take probiotics daily. I like the Theralac brand (at Amazon).
