After a close tie post-Tuesday's vice-presidential debate, Donald Trump on Thursday gained an extra point over Hillary Clinton, according to the latest poll released by Rasmussen Reports.
Here is the breakdown of the results:
- Trump: 43 percent;
- Clinton: 41 percent;
- Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson: 8 percent;
- Green Party candidate Jill Stein: 3 percent;
- Other candidates: 2 percent;
- Undecided: 4 percent.
Trump was ahead of Clinton — 42 percent to 41 percent — in yesterday's poll.
The GOP nominee, who was leading by 5 points over Clinton before the first presidential debate last week, lost confidence among voters, falling back by 3 points post his debate performance. After Monday, both presidential candidates have been in a near tie, with Trump finally gaining lead.
The survey also reveals 81 percent are certain how they will vote, giving Trump a lead of 2 points over Clinton 49 percent to 47 percent.
Among those voters who are likely to change their minds:
- Trump: 31 percent votes;
- Clinton: 29 percent;
- Johnson: 27 percent;
- Stein 13 percent.
The survey, which was conducted from Oct. 3 to 5, interviewed 1,500 Likely Voters. The margin of sampling error is +/- 2.5 percentage points.
