For over two decades, successive American administrations and governments of Israel have tested a very dubious proposition. They have pursued the idea of a Palestinian state and, to that end, made serial concessions — both territorial, financial and political — even though just negotiating such a state, let alone its realization, has imperiled Israel, not advanced regional peace.
A prime U.S. architect of this reckless policy is former Ambassador Martyn Indyk. Last week, Indyk and the so-called peace process and two-state solution he has championed were utterly decimated by Israeli Economy Minister Naftali Bennett in what amounted to a debate at the Brookings Institution.
