CA Court to Hear Polanski's Long Delayed Appeal

Wednesday, 16 December 2009 07:44 AM EST

Roman Polanski's lawyers are expected to argue before an appellate court that his 32-year-old sex case should be decided by a lower court judge without Polanski present.

At Thursday's hearing, a three-judge panel will hear from Polanski's California legal team and a member of the district attorney's office on whether Polanski must return to California for his case to be resolved. They will not decide whether it should be dismissed.

Polanski was arrested in Switzerland in September. He was released under house arrest last week at his Swiss chalet.

Polanski pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl in 1977.
