The following article is Part II of a series. The first installment may be found here

Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety  Benjamin Franklin

At our nation's recent largest conservative gathering (CPAC, Feb. 24, 2022) this writer made it a point to set out and ask noteworthy conservative figures, bona fide leaders all in their respective fields, a complicated question; one mandating a great deal of deep, careful thought: "Conservatives are generally winning. But we have a problem, it’s hard to know where to start as we fight these Marxist fiends, what issue is the foundation upon which we need to fight first?"

Here are more genuine CPAC leaders with their responses:

Todd Starnes, conservative radio talk show host: "We have to address the issue of First Amendment liberties. That for me is the greatest issue and what makes us America — our freedoms. And as we’ve seen under this administration they’ve attacked our freedoms."

Sen. Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn.: "My background is as a business person. I served as the Economic Development Director in my home state and a good job solves so many ills. We need to create the environment here in America that makes our nation the most attractive place in the world to invest. If we do that, we’ll see the economy turn around. We’ve got to push back against the bureaucratic state and regulations. We need to get some chip factories back in America."

Senator John Kennedy, R-La., (from his "standing o” speech):

"Here’s a free tip: cops won’t bother you if you don’t do bad things."

"Like I say, you can’t fix stupid. But, you can d**n sure vote it out."

“Have you been to Arlington National Cemetery? If you haven’t, go. Because that cemetery contains 400,000 reasons why you should stand your ass up for the National Anthem.”

"I love this country as much as you do. And I refuse to be beaten."

"I don’t hate anybody. Grace can be found everywhere. Love is the answer. But, you better own a handgun!" (Standing O)

Ric Grenell, former Trump acting DNI and Ambassador to Germany: (on a question about what President Trump is really like): “President Trump is completely focused on the people. He’s not focused on the powerful. And you are always reminded when you’re with him because he will find ways to emphasize what people are paying at the pump rather than the price of a barrel of oil. He surprises me every day. What people need to realize is that he’s a really normal guy. He’s somebody who although wildly successful you’d be surprised how much he’s just like everybody else. He’s pretty real."

Kash-Patel-for-CPAC-Robinson.jpg(Bill Robinson with Kash Patel. Used with author's permission)

Kash Patel, former chief of staff to the secretary of defense under President Trump: "Well, you’ve got to remind them what national security priorities we had under President Trump and the successes we had with guys like Ric Grenell and Johnny Radcliffe as DNI. The great leadership at DOD when Chris Miller was there and I was chief of staff; we put America first and Donald Trump’s priorities were simple. And 13 months after a Biden administration you see the Afghanistan catastrophe, you see Ukraine, you see our southern border wide open. So it kind of speaks for itself."

RobertOBrienRetakeRobinsonPicture14.jpg

Robert O’Brien, former National Security Advisor to President Trump: "I’ve spent most of my life in the foreign policy/national security area, so what keeps me up at night and hopefully keeps the bad guys up as well is what’s happening with Russia, China & Iran and our adversaries in North Korea, Pyongyang, and the perceptions that America is weak and that perception being provocative and causing our adversaries to take action against the United States or our allies.

"So there’s a number of things we can do. Number one, we have to deal with this Putin situation. We need to deal with him strongly; we need to cut off his central banks, so Russia can’t trade, kick them out of SWIFT. We need to bring Sweden and Finland into NATO so that Putin ends up after Ukraine with a stronger NATO not a weaker NATO.

"Move our troops out of Germany which is no longer a front-line state and put them into Poland or Romania."MehmetOzSenCanforRobinsonCPACPicture13.jpg(Bill Robinson with Pa. Senate Candidate: Dr. Mehmet Oz . Used with author's permission)

Dr. Memhet Oz, 2022 U.S. Senate candidate, R-Pa.: "I’m gonna start off by saying that Washington’s getting it wrong because they don’t share our values, they don’t respect our values, they don’t want our values.

"The number one crisis in America right now is lack of education. We’re teaching the kids critical race theory; we’re teaching the kids about gender issues, we need to give all our children a fighting chance to compete on the playing field of life.

"And we’re not doing that. Colleges have become madrassas and indoctrination centers."
