Our nation's largest conservative gathering began on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, as held by the American Conservative Union.
This was the same day that Russian President Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine.
Since that time, this writer and the world have been consumed by a horrific war.
As Gen. Robert E. Lee once observed, "It is well that war is so terrible, otherwise we should grow too fond of it."
This year's CPAC conference ended on Feb. 27. Moving forward to now, it's time to check in on how genuine American leaders feel about America, where she is headed, and just where conservatives fit in; how they can right America, guiding her to genuine prosperity and freedom.
CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) is a rapidly moving treadmill of activity; politicians scurry and scamper.
Elected officials and media alike make any interview longer than 60 seconds impossible.
So for most quote-worthy people, I had a unique approach: ask for a 45-second soundbite, give them one question, even do a "walk and talk," if necessary.
All were asked a complicated question requiring some deep thought.
The question posed most frequently was, "Conservatives are generally winning. But we have a problem, it’s hard to know where to start as we fight these Marxist fiends, what issue is the foundation upon which we need to fight first?"
Here are some of the responses:
Mark Levin, author and radio host, summed up things this way, "Liberty … that cuts through everything."

Sean Spicer, NewsmaxTV's host of "Spicer & Co" a a former Trump White House press secretary press secretary, said: "If you look at the rise of outlets like Newsmax, the bottom line is the American people know things are wrong … whether it’s energy independence, immigration, foreign policy, it’s not just one thing. The American people are looking at a country that in 12 months from one complete direction of success and things moving in the right direction to disaster."

Mike Lindell, Founder and CEO of My Pillow, "It’s communication … that’s all it is. A year ago January 7 was the day they tried to take our voice away. Our great president lost his Twitter. And 1.2 million people were de-platformed. We lost our voice … almost. You go through this whole year and we’ve been getting our voice back a little at a time. New platforms like my Lindell TV, Frank Speech and the president has Truth Social coming out.
"All this stuff out there … from the criminal activity that went on in 2020, and all the great things going on in our country and the world. If you don’t get the word out, it doesn’t matter.
"About President Trump, I always tell the president that 'God has his hand in all of this.' I’m very impatient, I want him back in now . . . "We’re gonna God back in our schools. What a concept. It’s gonna be glorious."
