The publisher of a book that makes damaging claims about President Donald Trump and his administration moved up the release date to Friday from next Tuesday because of high "demand."
"Due to unprecedented demand, we are moving the on-sale date for all formats of 'Fire and Fury,' by Michael Wolff, to Friday, Jan. 5, at 9 a.m. ET, from the current on-sale date of Tuesday, Jan. 9," a Henry Holt and Co. spokesman told Fox News.
Ever since a lengthy excerpt of the book was published in New York Magazine on Wednesday, demand for the book has skyrocketed. It went from Amazon's 48,449th most sold book Tuesday to No. 1 on Wednesday.
Former Trump aide Steve Bannon, who was fired from his role as White House chief strategist last summer, is quoted in the book as saying negative things about Trump and people close to him. The book also paints a chaotic picture of the first few months of the Trump presidency, and even claims Trump never wanted to be president.
A lawyer for Trump asked Wolff and his publisher to stop selling copies of the book ahead of its planned release. In response, the book will now be on the shelves Friday.
