God's word seems to have been watered down in the new Museum of the Bible, according to a press preview of the Washington DC monument to Christianity due to open Nov. 17.

"The museum doesn't encourage visitors to take the Bible literally or to believe that the Bible has only one correct form. And on floor after gleaming floor of exhibitions, there is very little Jesus," the Washington Post reported.

"This isn't the evangelism that the billionaire Green family first promised a decade ago when they set out to build a museum dedicated to Scripture."

The museum's mission was to "bring to life the living word of God" and "to inspire confidence in the absolute authority" of the Bible.

Somehow that drifted into a high-tech "shift toward neutrality," the Post reported after touring the massive 430,000-square-foot museum three blocks south of the Capitol.

"The museum has fence posts — limits," said Steve Green, the museum chairman and the CEO of his parents' Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. "It doesn't overtly say the Bible is good — that the Bible is true.

"That's not its role. Its role is to present facts and let people make their own decisions."

The museum boasts of "an unparalleled experience, using cutting-edge technology to bring the Bible to life."

David and Barbara Green successfully sued the Obama administration in the 2014 Hobby Lobby case before the Supreme Court. The Greens claimed Obamacare violated their religious liberty by requiring them to cover abortion drugs in company insurance plans.
