A former lobbyist is reportedly being considered for a post in President-elect Donald Trump's administration.

According to Politico, Wayne Berman may serve as the U.S. trade representative after Trump takes office next month. Berman, who currently works at the Blackstone Group as a senior executive, worked in the Department of Commerce during President George H.W. Bush's term.

Berman, reports Politico, met with Trump Monday. Before he began working at the Blackstone Group in 2012, Berman was a lobbyist for K Street firm Ogilvy. The website notes that he has not registered as a lobbyist during his time at Blackstone, which provides financial services such as asset management and investment banking.

Berman's wife Lea worked as a special assistant to the president and White House social secretary in President George W. Bush's administration.

Trump has taken a hard stance against lobbyists, enacting a five-year lobbying ban for people in his administration once they leave government work.
