A new Quinnipiac University poll on swing states shows that Ohio Gov. John Kasich continues to be a favorite among voters in the Buckeye State as he campaigns for the Republican presidential nomination.

His high ratings hold across political affiliations and sexes. According to the poll of Ohio voters, 61 percent to 28 percent approve Kasich's job performance — an all-time high rating.

The poll also shows Kasich's approval rating is:
  • 84 percent to 10 percent among Republicans
  • 60 to 28 percent among independent voters
  • 46 to 44 percent among Democrats
  • 62 to 25 percent among men
  • 60 to 31 percent among women
And as Democrats hope to gain seats in Florida and Ohio in the 2016 Senate races, the poll also notes that Ohio Sen. Rob Portman received high approval ratings with 45 percent approving the job he is doing and 26 percent disapproving.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott, on the other hand, had mixed approval ratings. The poll reported that 45 percent approve of the job he is doing and 44 percent do not.

In Pennsylvania, Sens. Robert Casey and Pat Toomey and Gov. Tom Wolf all have positive approval ratings, but the poll showed that voters there, by 49 to 27 percent, believe state Attorney General Kathleen Kane should resign.

Polls were conducted from Aug. 7-18 in Florida among 1,093 voters; in Ohio, among 1,096 voters; and in Pennsylvania, among 1,085 voters. The margin of error for all three polls is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
