The Republican Party must be methodical in diffusing Democrat Hillary Clinton's chances of winning the White House in 2016, political strategist Dick Morris told
Newsmax TV on Wednesday.
"Toppling Hillary from the Democratic nomination has had to be a multi-phased process," Morris, who served in the Clinton White House, told "The Hard Line" host Ed Berliner.

"The first phase is to raise the perception of her as untrustworthy and put her face to face with her own lying. That we've done.
"The second phase is for the perception that she's not truthful to affect her basic favorability ratings — and that's clearly happening," he added. "The third step, which is now happening, is for her to begin to lose swing states in trial matchups.
"Then the fourth stage, which will come, is the Democrats saying: 'Oh my God. You know, I like Hillary and I don't believe the negatives on her — but she's losing all these states. We've got to find somebody else.'"
That could be Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, even 2004 Democratic presidential candidate and current Secretary of State John Kerry or former vice president and 2000 nominee Al Gore, Morris said.
"Whatever it is, the Democrats have to at some point begin to panic, because they're facing an imminent loss of this election as long as they follow Hillary."
Morris is the co-author of The New York Times best-selling book,
"Power Grab: Obama's Dangerous Plan for a One-Party Nation." His choice is Vice President Joe Biden.
"The feeling that Biden will follow Obama's agenda, that he's a true stalwart of the Democratic Party, and above all that he's not a liar, that he's basically truthful and trustworthy, will be very important," Morris told Berliner. "On the one hand, some Democrats are going to come to that conclusion because they're turned off by Hillary.
"Others will come to the conclusion because they're scared to death of Bernie Sanders."
