Three star Republicans are set to stump for Republican Ken Cuccinelli in the final days of the Virginia governor's race.
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, and former Texas Rep. Ron Paul are scheduled to visit the state,
the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports. The election is Tuesday.
Bill and Hillary Clinton, President Barack Obama, and Vice President Joe Biden have been out on the hustings for Democrat Terry McAuliffe, whose lead over Cuccinelli is shrinking in the closing days of the campaign.
A Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday shows Cuccinelli only 4 points behind, which is fairly close to the survey margin of error. Among likely voters, McAuliffe now leads by a margin of 45 percent to 41 percent. A week ago, he was up 7 points over Cuccinelli, 46 percent to 39 percent.
"Ken Cuccinelli is nipping at Terry McAuliffe’s heels," said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac Polling Institute.
