"There's a small cadre of people who support Sarah Palin," Reagan continued. "It is not far and wide. It doesn't reach out to more moderate Republicans, more liberal Republicans — and you're going to need all of those people if you want to win the election in November."

Palin, the former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential candidate, endorsed Trump Tuesday in Ames, Iowa. They campaigned together in Oklahoma on Wednesday.

"This may help Donald Trump in the primaries to finally get rid of Ted Cruz, but she will not help him in the general election," Reagan told Hayworth. "To mention that she may be on the ticket or she may have a spot in his administration, I think is a huge, huge mistake for Donald Trump."
