Anti-Semitism has been growing "significantly" worldwide "since before President [Donald] Trump was even a candidate," Rep. Lee Zeldin told Newsmax TV on Wednesday, but "this is something that should be uniting us across party lines."

"For those who are trying to connect it to President Trump, I wouldn't say it's a coincidence that these are the people who are for the most part are looking for any excuse to undermine the Trump presidency," the New York congressman told "The Steve Malzberg Show."

Zeldin, 37, who was first elected in 2014, is one of two Jewish Republicans in Congress. The other is first-term Tennessee Rep. David Kustoff, 50.

"We should be tackling it together," Zelin said, "and this isn't just something for the next few weeks or months ahead.

"We'll be dealing with this in some form. We'll be dealing with it through generations, as long as there's any anti-Semitism of any form completely eliminated."
