President Donald Trump in a tweet on Monday condemned the attack in Portland, Ore., calling it "unacceptable" that two people were stabbed and killed after police say a man went on an anti-Muslim rant directed at two women.

Two men, Ricky John Best, 53, and Taliesin Myrddin Namkai Meche, 23, died after they were allegedly attacked when they tried to stop suspect Jeremy Joseph Christian from disparaging two women, Politico reported. One of the women was wearing a hijab.

A third person, Micah David-Cole Fletcher, 22, was injured in the attack, according to Politico.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations had called on Trump to speak out on the attack, CNN reported.
