President Barack Obama found out what can happen when he gets home early: He ended up locked out of the White House for a little while until he found a door he could open. In what might be viewed as a bit of comic relief amid the mounting, and daunting, challenges raining down on the president, he couldn’t get into the Oval Office when he returned early from his Latin American trip.
Even though the president returned just a few hours early to help deal with fallout from U.S. involvement in the NATO action against Libya, amid other world-rattling events, White House staffers apparently didn’t know about the schedule change, so he had to knock around a bit outside. Apparently, commanders in chief don’t carry keys, although this president might consider doing so in the future.
A video chronicles 44’s arrival on the White House lawn via helicopter Wednesday, and his approach to Door No. 1. Finding it locked, with perfect aplomb, he strolls past other doors and finally found one that was unlocked. Uh, welcome HOME, Mr. President.
