Sony Faces Second Class Action Suit Over Data Breach

Tuesday, 16 Dec 2014 06:45 PM

A second class action lawsuit has been filed against Sony Pictures Entertainment by two former employees whose private data was stolen from the company's servers and posted online.

The lawsuit filed Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court accuses Sony of waiting too long to notify employees that data such as Social Security numbers, salaries and medical records had been stolen. The suit is filed by two former Sony film production workers, Susan Dukow and Yvonne Yaconelli.

Their filing comes one day after two other former Sony employees filed a class action lawsuit in federal court. Both cases seek to represent current and former Sony employees whose private data was posted online.

The Culver City, California, division of Japan's Sony Corp. has not responded to requests for comment on the lawsuits.
