4 Relatives of Edwards Donor Visit NC Grand Jury

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — An attorney says four relatives of a wealthy woman who donated to former presidential candidate John Edwards have been subpoenaed to testify before a federal grand jury in North Carolina.

Alexander Forger told The Associated Press that four of Bunny Mellon's family members arrived Friday at the Raleigh courthouse. Forger says Mellon's son, two grandsons and one of the grandson's wives have been subpoenaed.

But he says they know nothing about the Edwards campaign beyond the fact that Bunny Mellon supported the former North Carolina senator.

A grand jury has been looking into Edwards' campaign finances for more than a year, bringing in his longtime aides and mistress Rielle Hunter for testimony. Two former campaign aides visited the courthouse Thursday.
