Girl, 16, Commits Suicide on LA County Freeway

LOS ANGELES -- Authorities say a 16-year-old girl has killed herself by stepping in front of a vehicle on a Los Angeles County freeway.

California Highway Patrol Officer Anthony Martin says the girl walked onto the northbound lanes of the 170 Freeway in North Hollywood early Sunday.

She was struck by a Jeep in the right hand lane. Martin says the driver stopped and passed a field sobriety test. He was not injured.

Los Angeles County Coroner's Lt. Cheryl MacWillie says the girl has been identified as Cecilia Casas of North Hollywood.
