President Donald Trump shared on Truth Social what he called a "quite nice" image of Jesus Christ consoling him.
"The Radical Left Lunatics might not like this, but I think it is quite nice!!!" Trump wrote Wednesday on Truth Social while sharing an image and message that had been posted on X by the Irish for Trump account.
The image, which shows Jesus embracing Trump against an American flag backdrop, was paired with a message suggesting that recent global events point to divine intervention.
"I was never a very religious man ... but doesn't it seem, with all these satanic, demonic, child sacrificing monsters being exposed ... that God might be playing his Trump card!" the post read.
Trump's repost quickly drew attention online, coming days after controversy surrounding a separate AI-generated image that depicted him in a Christ-like role.
The earlier image sparked backlash from some religious leaders and commentators, prompting Trump to remove it and say that he believed it portrayed him "as a doctor" helping others.
Supporters have largely defended the latest image as symbolic rather than literal, arguing it reflects the belief among many Americans that Trump has been a central figure in pushing back against entrenched political and cultural forces.
The episode highlights the intersection of faith and politics in Trump-era conservatism, where religious imagery is often used to underscore themes of national renewal and moral struggle.
The president also has criticized Pope Leo XIV, who has called for peace in Iran.
Trump has increasingly leaned into rhetoric suggesting his political movement carries larger significance, especially after surviving an assassination attempt during the 2024 campaign.
Critics, including some conservative Christians, have raised concerns about the appropriateness of such imagery, warning that it risks crossing into territory they view as disrespectful.
Others argue the reaction is overblown and driven in part by political opponents seeking to generate controversy.
AL.com noted the latest image showed Jesus placing a hand on Trump's heart, a visual that supporters said symbolizes guidance and protection.
Despite the criticism, Trump's core supporters appear largely unfazed, continuing to view him as a leader who has challenged both political and cultural elites.
Many see the backlash itself as further evidence of what they describe as a disconnect between establishment voices and grassroots voters.
