Trump Supporters Flip Out After NPR Tweets Declaration of Independence

National Public Radio tweeted the Declaration of Independence line by line, in individual tweets on July 4, and the responses of some Twitter users went viral, HuffPost reports. 

Some supporters of President Donald Trump accused NPR of calling for revolution, according to Upworthy writer Parker Molloy:

According to HuffPost, Twitter user Darren Mills said, "Literally no one is going to read 5,000 tweets about this trash," then directed a comment at NPR, saying, "This is why you're going to get defunded."

Another user called the Declaration "propaganda," according to BuzzFeed.

Seriously, this is the dumbest idea I have ever seen on twitter. Literally no one is going to read 5000 tweets about this trash.

Some Twitter users issued apologies for their comments later.

"I took NPR out of context and had a stupid moment… never underestimate one's capacity to learn," D.G. Davies wrote after accusing NPR of sanctioning violence, according to HuffPost.

Each year on July 4, NPR's "Morning Edition" features its hosts, reporters, and commentators reading the Declaration aloud.

Buzzfeed reported one section of the Declaration got the most retweets:
