Alex Jones is hawking a silver-infused toothpaste he claims kills the coronavirus despite warnings issued by the Food and Drug Administration to other companies referencing a coronavirus cure, reports Huffington Post.
“The patented nanosilver we have, the Pentagon has come out and documented and Homeland Security has said this stuff kills the whole SARS-corona family at point-blank range,” Jones said on his “Infowars” program Tuesday.
“They’re still discounted despite all the hell breaking loose,” he continued.
The FDA last week warned N-Ergetics to stop claiming that colloidal silver could cure or mitigate COVID-19. The state of Missouri on Tuesday filed a lawsuit against televangelist Jim Bakker and his production company to stop them from advertising or selling Silver Solution and related products as treatments for the virus, which has infected more than 115,000 worldwide and killed more than 4,200.
“What we don’t need in this situation are companies preying on consumers by promoting products with fraudulent prevention and treatment claims,” Federal Trade Commission Chairman Joe Simons said in a statement. “These warning letters are just the first step. We’re prepared to take enforcement actions against companies that continue to market this type of scam.”
