Dozens Gather at Vigil for Pastor Slain at Church

Friday, 04 March 2011 09:33 PM EST

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Nearly 100 people prayed and sang "Amazing Grace" at a vigil outside a Texas church where a pastor was killed and a ministry assistant was severely beaten.

Several pastors at Arlington churches prayed for comfort, peace and hope Friday night as the community mourns the loss of the Rev. Clint Dobson.

Arlington police say they suspect robbery as the motive in Thursday's attack at NorthPointe Baptist Church that also left a church employee hospitalized.

The vigil was organized by the Arlington Clergy And Police Partnership, a group of religious leaders who work closely with the police force. Dobson had been a member.

A memorial of flowers and wreaths was growing at the church doors Friday.
