BEAUMONT, Texas — A 41-year-old man is jailed without bond on murder charges after he opened fire outside a Southeast Texas courthouse, killing a woman and wounding three others.
The gunman, Bartholomew Granger, also was wounded Wednesday in the downtown shootout in Beaumont.
Authorities say among the victims was Granger's 20-year-old daughter, who had testified against him in a case. She was to have continued testifying. Police say her mother also was among the wounded.
The woman killed was a 79-year-old who police say was a random victim of dozens of shots fired outside the courthouse.
