Comedian and incoming "Late Show" host Stephen Colbert on Thursday helped fund every project by South Carolina teachers on the website DonorsChoose.org.
Colbert noted that he is a product of South Carolina public schools and wanted to give back.
He used money from the auction of his desk and other parts of his set from his former show, "The Colbert Report,"
according to a press release.
"I'm so excited to announce we are funding all 1,000 South Carolina projects on DonorsChoose.org today," Colbert said. "DonorsChoose.org makes it so easy to have an impact and connect directly with the teachers and students you're helping."
Colbert partnered with Share Fair Nation and ScanSource to make the donations.
After the announcement, Colbert held a Google chat with teachers and students at Alexander Elementary School in Greenville, S.C.
"Enjoy the learnin’, South Carolina!” Colbert said,
The Washington Post reported.
