Liberals, particularly environmental activists, worry that focus on the Solyndra scandal will make it more difficult for clean energy projects to gain political support. They think attention should center instead on the Keystone XL crude oil pipeline,
Politico reports.
The Solyndra scandal revolves around whether political factors influenced the Obama administration’s decision to offer $535 million in loan guarantees for the now failed solar energy company.
Liberals are more worried about the Keystone XL crude oil pipeline that would connect Canada’s Tar Sands to the Gulf Coast. They worry about pollution from the project, which the State Department is reviewing.
The left is criticizing the media for focusing on Solyndra instead. “Ever hear of the tar sands pipeline that will actually cost [President Barack] Obama support he is counting on?” Jeremy Symons, a senior vice president at the National Wildlife Federation, wrote in an email to Politico last week.
