Paul Ryan's Daughter Has Successful First Hunt

Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., has been taking his daughter hunting for years, but this Thanksgiving she took a successful shot of her own.

Ryan’s 10-year-old daughter, Liza, brought her own weapon for the first time, and matched her Dad by bagging her own deer in the woods of Oklahoma, reported the Washington Examiner.

"Congressman Ryan was grateful to spend time with his family over the Thanksgiving holiday. He was able to hunt with his daughter Liza," said Kevin Seifert, Ryan’s spokesman. "Both of them had successful and safe outings, each shooting a buck."

Liza received a Remington 700 .243 caliber rifle for Christmas in 2011, but she could not start hunting until this year, Ryan said in September during a stop at a Bass Pro Shop in Cincinnati, according to CNN.

"My daughter she's been hunting with me for years, watching me, but she's old enough this year to hunt on her own," he said. "She's really looking forward to it."

Ryan bought his daughter the gloves, beanie, and bib she wore in Oklahoma during the campaign stop, explaining to reporters that his selection was based on carbon woven into the hat and gloves because it helps to block a human’s scent.
