The long and bitter war of words between Rosie O'Donnell and Donald Trump erupted again on Thursday as the caustic comic accused the commander-in-chief of trying to portray himself as a tough-talking, in-your-face mob boss.
But, O'Donnell adds, Trump doesn't come anywhere close to pulling off the godfather act — especially when compared to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who she says is the real deal.
"The thing is, Trump wants to be Tony Soprano," Donnell said in an interview with The Daily Beast's Lloyd Grove, referring to the beefy gangster who runs a powerful organized-crime family criminal in the beloved HBO series "The Sopranos."
"But the fact is, Putin is a real gangster. He's not a TV gangster that Trump is trying to emulate. Trump is not a real mobster, player, murderer guy."
And, O'Donnell added, "The image that he has sold of himself to America, complicit with the mainstream media's help, is a total fabrication."
In the past, Trump has made fun of O'Donnell's weight and called her "a pig," "a slob" and "a total degenerate." O'Donnell, who starred with Madonna in the baseball comedy "A League of their Own," has labeled Trump "an orange anus" — a crude reference to his unusual, flame-tinted hair color.
