One of New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's senior staffers used a private email account to arrange meetings with environmental groups on the subject of climate change as the agency probes Exxon, The Daily Caller reports.
Assistant Attorney General Lem Srolovic employed his personal email account to carry out the task in 2012, which The Caller says "raises questions about how often the office uses personal emails for professional meetings."
Such an act is a violation of New York state law if done while gathering information for an Exxon probe the attorney general's office is conducting.
According to The Caller, Srolovic used his own Gmail account to send PowerPoint presentations to his colleagues.
"It is not clear from the email if the presentation was meant to build a case against fossil fuel companies like Exxon, but there is evidence the campaign against the oil company began as early as 2012 …” The Caller's Chris White writes.
